Armenian Diaspora in Spain
The number of Armenians settled in Spain is around 40 thousands. Mainly they inaugurated from Armenia 10-15 years ago and today they mostly live in Valencia (aprox. 14000), Barcelona (aprox. 12000), Alicante (2000), La Rioha (1500), San Sebastian and Bilbao (300), Sevilia (300), Malaga (200). In Madrid live some 8 thousands Armenians. The number of Armenian community organizations in Spain is not few but the number of the members of those is quite limited.
After the Armenian Embassy had been opened the Community life became more dynamic. New organizations of cultural profile are being formed; the number of the Sunday schools is also increasing.
In September 2010 the Armenian House in Barcelona was inaugurated under the auspices of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU).
There are no Armenian churches functioning in Spain. Premises of other churches are occasionally hired for different events and ceremonies.
